Borgogno Rivata is Samuele, Alberto, Massimo, & Giovanni. Giovanni joined in 2018 after stints at some well known Piemonte wineries and gave Borgogno Rivata new direction in the vineyard and the cellar. Healthy farming practices and meticulous cellar work, relying on his senses for guidance. We were truly blown away by the wines and this young winemaker. At just 29 years old, Giovanni possesses the wisdom and confidence of a seasoned vigneron combined with the energy and boundless curiosity of a winemaker just hitting his stride.

Borgogno Rivata’s plantings total 6 hectares between Langhe (La Morra) and Roero (Guarene). Their Barolo is some of the freshest ready-to-drink Barolo we have come across, while maintaining that trademark aging potential. The rest of the lineup follows suit.

Borgogno Rivata is the first to arrive of what will be a handful of new Piemonte winemakers in the Amuninni portfolio and we couldn’t be more excited to begin with Giovanni. On offer is Borgogno Rivata’s ‘Barolo DOCG 2020’, ‘Langhe Nebbiolo DOC 2022’, ‘Barbera d'Alba Superiore DOC 2022’, ‘Langhe Rosso DOC 2023’ (Pelaverga), & ‘Lotti Sparsi 000’ (Dolcetto). ‘Lotti Sparsi’ is a negociant project that aims to tell stories about grapes and wines that are being lost. It will be different each vintage. This bottling is Dolcetto from an old ‘Piè franco’ vineyard (ungrafted / pre-phyloxera). We have limited quantities of both the ‘Barolo DOCG 2020’ & ‘Langhe Nebbiolo 2022’ in magnum.

For some, Amuninni is Sergio Drago and Sergio Drago is Amuninni. Sergio has been with us since day one. His wines were on the first container that landed in NYC and every year we are honored to receive Sergio’s latest vintage. We have grown together and we have witnessed Sergio become one of the most respected and regarded interpreters of the Catarratto grape, indigenous to his area of Alcamo, between Marsala and Palermo. Sergio’s Catarrattos strike a precise balance between saline freshness and complex textural layers.

This year’s lineup includes some old favorites, ‘Mosso’ sparkling Catarratto, ‘Catarratto’ with 6 months of lees contact, ‘Macerato’ skin contact Catarratto, ‘Rosa’ rosato of Nero d’Avola, ‘Rosso’ of Nero d’avola and Syrah, ‘Rosso di Botte’ of Nero d’Avola and Syrah with a year in large botte, and two new additions: ‘Barriccato’ barrel aged Catarratto (limited quantities) and ‘Rosa Mosso’ sparkling rosato of Nero d’Avola.

Fabio Ferracane’s expressive and playful wines return to New York just in time for the warm weather. Fabio’s 8 hectares of Catarratto, Grillo, Nero d’Avola and Merlot, sun-drenched and brushed by the sea breeze, are directly in front of the Stagnone Islands nature reserve and their historic salt pans. A true farmer, Fabio produces wines that are a true expression of his home and territory.

In spite of his oenological training, Fabio has surpassed the received standards of reliance on manipulation of the ‘biochemical’ processes of winemaking in favor of a stronger focus on the work in the vineyard. Truly in tune with nature, he spends most of his time amongst the vines. No two vintages are ever treated the same as Fabio’s work is painstakingly precise and careful, down to each single grape bunch.

The 2023 offering includes ‘23Foddreè’ sparkling Catarratto, ‘Guanciabianca’ Catarratto in 750 & magnum, ‘Macerato’ skin contact Catarratto, & ‘Guancianera’ Nero d’Avola in 750 & magnum.
